Golden Globes 2024

Naturally, my favourite moment was Margot Robbie walking into the red carpet, pretty much like a real-life Barbie.

Hosted by the comedian (?) Jo Koy, this year’s version took place at the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, California. Before the event, there were several predictions—probably the main one being whether Barbie or Oppenheimer would take home the Golden Globe for the Best Motion Picture- Drama category. As wished for, it was Oppenheimer.

Also, a big shout out to Ali Wong and Steven Yeun who won for their performances in ‘Beef’,  the former being the first Asian-origin woman to win the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, while Yeun is second (as Darren Criss was the first, winning the trophy in 2019 for his performance in “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace).

Lily Gladstone won her first Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama for her portrayal of Mollie Burkhart in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, becoming a pioneer in the indigenous community. As predicted, Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor award in the same category for ‘Oppenheimer’.

As per anticipation, Justine Triet’s ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ and Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘The Boy and the Heron’ won for Best Motion Picture — Non-English Language and Best Motion Picture — Animated respectively.
